Imma keep it real…. I was not an instant fan when the midi length first started gracing its presence in the fashion world. Mini? Fo Sho. Maxi? Most Definitely! Knee Length? OK. But the Midi length was a little scary to me. I was worried about my non super model height and looking like a FRUMP (every girl/woman’s nightmare)! I am here to tell you, I couldn’t have been more wrong. Now don’t get me wrong, there are definitely some stricter guidelines you need to follow to fight the FRUMP, but nothing too drastic and it’s all about balance….#storyofmylife.

SO WTF DO YOU WEAR WITH A MIDI SKIRT!? First things first…you have to think about proportions when you’re trying to rock this trend. Since a midi hits in between the knee and mid calf, it can sometimes make you feel chopped off aka FRUMPY AF!! My advice….make sure you pick a shoe that doesn’t compete with the look, length, and width of the skirt or dress. In other words…look for a shoe with less bulk. And when in doubt, add some height and wear it with heels. You want the shoe to elongate your frame. Here are my fav sandal heels to wear right now HERE , HERE, AND HERE. If you’re going with a flat, try a pointy toe mule Like THIS, or a flat sandal slide like THIS.

Since the length of the skirt or dress is really the focal point, I also like to make sure the top balances the bottom. If the midi skirt/dress is full/loose/flowy, make sure the top portion is fitted. I also love to tuck in or even just do a front tuck to accentuate the waist. Vice Versa if the bottom is more fitted, go loose on the top. Since Summer is approaching, I will also be pairing a few cropped tops with high waisted Midi Skirts. No, I’m not talking about baring the entire midriff, just a tiny little bit Like these sets…….

Pretty cute and doable, am I right!? Don’t knock it till you try it!! Check out another post with some midi length favorites HERE!

When its done right, the midi length is uber chic, and classy. (bonus….its my go to now when I forget to shave my legs, which shamefully happens all too often around here #momlife). Let me know your thoughts on this trend and how you like to wear and own it in your own style!!
